Woodbury Citizens' Academy Mission & Purpose
Mission
To expand the knowledge of our citizens in a way that encourages more involvement in our community. Woodbury Citizens will have an understanding of how local public, private and nonprofit sectors work in their respective areas, as well as in unison, to make the City of Woodbury a positive place to reside.
Participation
The Woodbury Citizen’s Academy will offer spots to Woodbury citizens on a first come first serve basis. Applications will be received via mail or email. The Woodbury Citizen’s Academy will accept no more than 25 persons for each session. The program will welcome residents of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. The Woodbury Community Foundation will offer specific advertising geared toward involving less active or diverse populations of Woodbury. Member participants are expected to attend all sessions in order to receive a certificate of completion. Some absences are excusable in case of emergency. Member participants are expected to sign a waiver and a photo release form.
Timeline
Ten weekly sessions will begin on Thursday, February 4, 2010 and will end on Thursday April 15, 2010. This last session will also be dedicated to citizen feedback for the City and program assessment. We will provide graduates with information as to how they can best serve in our community.
