The Horizon Fund for Innovation & Entrepreneurship represents a family legacy. Dick and Diane’s contribution, in partnership with Dick’s career employer, 3M, has it’s roots in Dick’s DNA. His father, with the critical support and direct involvement of his mother, built a successful small business in southern MN. Upon retirement, they then dedicated their time and resources to conservation and community service. Then Dick’s 37-year career with 3M embedded in him a passion for innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, learned first in the corporate environment, then applied in the community.
THE FUNDAMENTAL PURPOSE & GOAL OF THE FUND
Initially, with 3M’s project support, the purpose is to position the Woodbury Community Foundation as a pioneer leader in cross-sector collaboration, servant leadership development, resource leveraging, and measuring impact at the grass-roots community level. Long term, with Hanson and broader community investment, the goal is to build a $300,000 endowment, to inspire, support implementation of, sustain, and recognize “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” in the Woodbury Community.
OUR POTENTIAL IMPACT
The combined $50,000 3M Grant and Hanson Endowment provides the springboard for a successful campaign to sustain $10,000 per year for this purpose, in perpetuity.
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE USED?
✧ To fund research and establish standards for outcome measurement and impact of social innovation in terms of economic value (ROI) by cross-sector, community collaborative projects and programs.
✧ To inspire innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in the community through servant leadership development scholarships, and incentive awards.
