Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf (CCEFS) was established in 1983, and up until 2018 was hosted at Woodbury Lutheran Church. In the first year of operation, an average of five households came to CCEFS each week for food assistance.
In 2018, CCEFS opened a new food shelf building on the grounds of Guardian Angels Church. This new food building has allowed CCEFS to greatly expand programming. In 2018 we launched our Wildcard Wednesday program and in 2019 we expanded our Produce Fair program. In 2019 CCEFS distributed more than one million pounds of food to community members in need – an increase of 42% in just one year.
CCEFS relies heavily upon the hard work of generous and dedicated volunteers to pick up rescued food, sort and stock donations, and help serve our clients. We also welcome volunteers who are interested in serving in other capacities, such as graphic design, data entry, website management, and social media. We ask that most volunteers commit to serving two or more shifts per month, though many of our volunteers serve more than once a week.
