For the past 6 years, the Woodbury Community Foundation, in partnership with the City of Woodbury, has been educating Woodbury residents about the multitude of ways they could engage in their community. Over 150 residents have graduated the program and many of them are now serving in volunteer capacities throughout the community. One of the outcomes the program hopes to achieve is to create engagement networks among the graduates. Such is the case with Margaret Wachholz, a member of the Woodbury Community Foundation Board, who is also the Community Relations Manager at Woodbury Senior Living and Javier Salinas-Vega, Director of Diversity and Underrepresented Student Recruitment at Inver Hills Community College. The two met in the Citizens’ Academy. Recently, they worked together to educate high school students about the value of working in the care giving profession.
