In partnership with Woodbury’s Public Safety Department, the Woodbury Community Foundation’s Community Support Fund helped nine local families in need during 2025’s holiday season. The families, all a part of the Woodbury school system, were identified via partnering organization SoWashCo CARES who provided their anonymous wish lists. Woodbury’s first responders did the shopping. The lists included necessities such as bedding, bath towels, kitchen utensils, cleaning supplies and clothing, as well as some special items to bring extra joy to these families like stuffed animals and other toys.
These donations were entirely funded by WCF’s Community Support Fund, with police officers and first responders donating their time to shop. According to Public Safety officials, they do this in honor of their mission, which is “to serve all people with compassion and courage.” Woodbury’s Public Safety enjoys being a part of such a generous and supportive community. “This initiative was a quiet way we could compassionately serve our community members in need.”
The Community Support Fund also helps Woodbury Public Safety fill the gap between a need and when additional resources can be provided. Some of the ways a first responder does this are by filling a tank of gas, covering a hotel stay, providing basic needs, or something similar for a family in crisis.
