Dick has been retired since July 2001, and was employed by 3M for 37 years, the last 10 as Director of Community Affairs and Vice President of the 3M Foundation. As 3M’s “ambassador” to the community, Dick sat on dozens of Boards, Task Forces, Councils, and Committees. Most noteworthy Boards were the St. Paul United Way, St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Charities Review Council, Riverfront Corporation, Metro East Development Partnership, St. Paul Workforce Development Council/Workforce Investment Board, East Side Area Business Association, Minnesota Council on Foundations Principles & Practices Committee, and Conference Board Contributions Council. He was also a founding member of the Phalen Corridor Initiative, Community Employment Partnership, and Employer Solutions, Inc.
