Dick retired as Commissioner of Washington County after seven years in that capacity. Prior to holding the office of Commissioner, Mr. Stafford served the residents of Washington County as Auditor-Treasurer from 1974-1999. In addition to Chairing the Washington County Board of Commissioners, Dick has been involved with the Finance Committee, Law Library Board, Legislative Committee, Public Health Advisory Committee, Regional Rail Authority Board, Assn. of Minnesota Counties Board, East Metro Radio Communications Board, Metropolitan Energy Task Force, Metropolitan Inter-County Association, Metropolitan Radio Board, Metropolitan 9-1-1 Board, Ramsey/Washington Resource Recovery Joint Powers Board, as well as the Regional Solid Waste Management Coordination Board. Dick was also chosen as Woodbury’s Citizen of the Year in 1987 and 2002. His civic involvements include the Woodbury Lions Club, Woodbury Yellow Ribbon Committee, Woodbury Ambulance Council, American Legion, Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, and the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial Council.
