Helping Local Families with $11,500 in Emergency Grants

Woodbury, MN – Mar. 27, 2020 – During this COVID-19 crisis, the Woodbury Community Foundation (WCF) Board is proud to award $11,500 in 2020 COVID-19 Emergency Grants. These are being distributed immediately to four local non-profit organizations which are helping kids and families in Woodbury during this crisis.

“We’re all in this together. We, at your community foundation, want to immediately help our neighbors with this emergency funding,” said Roger Green, Chair, Woodbury Community Foundation. “COVID-19 is an example of our opportunity to take a rapid response to a rapidly emerging community urgent need. Responding to the COVID-10 crisis is how the Woodbury Community Foundation can make a difference for our community.”

WCF 2020 COVID-19 Emergency Grants are being awarded to these local non-profits:

  • Canvas Health to meet local mental health needs through telehealth.
  • Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf to help 600 families in need right now.
  • SoWashCo CARES to feed hundreds of hungry kids dependent on school lunches.
  • Woodbury YMCA to help support their emergency childcare program.

SoWashCo CARES says this COVID-19 Emergency Grant will help meet the needs of our underserved kids during this crisis while schools are closed.

“When school is out, these kids can be at risk for going hungry. Through community partnerships with South Washington County Community Education, SoWashCo CARES can offer meals to families during this crisis,” said Cheryl Jogger, SoWashCo CARES. “Thank you so much for the support of our students. Our goal is to make sure our kids have what they need to succeed and with your help that will be possible.”

Woodbury Community Foundation will continue to review new grant requests as the pandemic continues. These COVID-19 Emergency Grants are made possible thanks to the generous support of local donors and those who attended our Chef Fest event last fall.
