Community Academy

Interested in public service and giving back to the community? Learn from Woodbury leaders about local government, education, public safety and much more by joining the Woodbury Community Academy!
The academy, returning for its 17th consecutive spring in 2026, consists of nine sessions, designed to educate participants about the city, build connections and encourage more involvement in the community in a behind-the-scenes experience.
Weekly sessions are held on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM. It will begin in January 2026 and continue through the end of March 2026.
Session 1: Thursday, January 29th, 2026
Session 2: Thursday, February 5, 2026
Session 3: Thursday, February 12, 2026
Session 4: Thursday, February 19, 2026
Session 5: Thursday February 26, 2026
Session 6: Thursday, March 5, 2026
Session 7: Thursday, March 12, 2026
Session 8: Thursday, March 19, 2026
Session 9 & Graduation: Saturday, March 28, 2026
These sessions are designed to educate participants about the city, build connections and encourage more involvement in the community in a behind-the-scenes experience. The cost is $40 per participant. Topics include:
- Woodbury’s history and how it’s relevant today
- City demographics and diversity
- City and county government and schools
- Service, volunteer and community engagement
- Public Safety, Public Works and Parks & Recreation
Whether you’re new to the area or have lived here your entire life, the Community Academy is an amazing opportunity for all!
