Leadership Lessons Through Sports Officiating
- What is it like to be a college football official?
- What are the traits and training involved to become a good official?
- What are the life lessons and leadership development involved in sports officiating?
This unique, engaging and informative presentation provides a perspective on development and leadership through the eyes of those who wear the stripes, the guardians of the game.
Steve Thielen loved sports from the day he was born. In high school he lettered in football and basketball and gained leadership skills that served him well in his early career. Earning management degrees from St John’s and Concordia University, culminating with an MBA, Steve has had an award-winning leadership career in both the public and private sectors.
His passion, however, goes back to the grid-iron. Undertaking grueling training courses for officiating and now training other officials, Steve most enjoys the energy and vibe of college football, running up and down the sidelines, interacting with players and watching out for the safety of the players and the integrity of the game.
Steve tells his story, engaging the audience in officiating conundrums, and sharing leadership lessons learned on and off the field.
The event will be held at 5:30p on Monday, April 27th at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 8511 Hudson Boulevard, Lake Elmo, MN 55042!
